Manual install of mods limited to 5 because people hack the game
Is THIS why i cannot access some of the cars within Car Showroom.
Are you really suggesting people have to upload their own mods to Steam workshop and then subscribe to their own mods just so that all of the features of the game work properly.
That's why there is a hidden option on workshop for personal mods
This is also in place to put a stop to use of external sites for mods which create issues for game profiles if a mod is not updated
As we have stated if you don't like rules don't make mods simple
What else I found, is that all those sites are littered with ads, meaning, they are making money on other people's hard work. So, the question is: why even bother with downloading non-Steam mods?
Some people like me are on terrible internet like Hughes satellite internet which is basically non existent and we have to prioritize exactly what we download or update with 4 people and many machines in the house. When you have the ability to use non steam mods you don't have to worry about them updating every time you sneeze and you can download them on your phone to transfer them to your computer. Every game that I have on Steam that has used workshop sub'd mods updates constantly. (that's why i uninstalled and quit using steam workshop mods) If someone updates something small on their mod it's like steam redownloads the whole mod again. This wouldn't be an issue on a good internet connection like when I was in a good area with Cox internet but there are other reasons as well. For instance if I have a non steam mod installed it is there in it's current state working and the only thing that could break it or my save would be if the game changed completely so much that normal mods wouldn't work and I accept that, thats fine. If I use a workshop mod if the modder updates it and its broken it could mess up your whole entire save. If the devs are worried about people "hacking" their game this is not going to bother those types at all. All this hurts is the people who gave them money for a full real version of the game. I've been around since the beginning of CMS 2014 I've bought every CMS game and several DLCs. Seeing weird roundabout ways of limiting the game even if it doesn't really affect me is making me have second thoughts. If people like your game, they like you as devs, and you don't do dumb things they will buy it. Personally I only really use 3 non workshop car mods but I mainly see this as an issue of limiting the game and making it a pain in the neck for people developing car mods for your game because now instead of just testing it with the game along with the other things they've made they now have steam stuck in the middle of it and have to rotate files around to make it work. I'm not trying to be an a** and I've defended Red Dot games many times in the past when mistakes were made but after some of the lastest bad moves alot of popular game devs have made lately I've been a little more skeptical. On a side note I do agree that if someones mod is going to be posted elsewhere they do need to give expressed permissions to do so otherwise that is an issue.
If i upload them as "personal" mods, it cost ~220 mb for Steam platform - you sure it's legal at all?
And if there more non-WS mods come, this "personal" space will grow unlimited? For thousand users?
